AL SB366

Authorizes the House of Representatives and Senate to issue subpoenas during impeachment proceedings to compel witness testimony and production of documents, signed by the presiding officer or committee chair.

Requires subpoenas be served using the same methods as court subpoenas.

Allows law enforcement to arrest persons who fail to appear, testify, or produce documents when subpoenaed, and bring them before the appropriate house or committee.

Permits imprisonment of persons who fail to comply with subpoenas or engage in disorderly conduct, with warrants signed by the presiding officer and countersigned by the secretary or clerk, and directs custody to the Sheriff of Montgomery County.

Limits imprisonment to no longer than the conclusion of the impeachment proceeding and does not prevent separate civil or criminal proceedings for the same offense.
