AL SB371

Requires the Governor and Lieutenant Governor to be elected jointly as a ticket, beginning with the first general election following ratification of the amendment.

Removes the Lieutenant Governor's role as President of the Senate and eliminates the right to vote in case of tie votes in the Senate.

Establishes that the sole duty of the Lieutenant Governor is to succeed to the office of Governor upon the Governor's removal, death, or resignation.

Transfers all legislative duties, powers, and responsibilities previously held by the Lieutenant Governor to a President of the Senate who shall be elected by Senate members, with the President Pro Tempore presiding in the President's absence.

Sets the annual salary of the Lieutenant Governor at 75 percent of the Governor's annual salary, with this salary differential not subject to alteration by law.
