SB399 Summary

• Creates a Division of Conservation and Natural Resources within the Department of Agriculture and Industries, effective October 1, 2018, with all duties and powers of the former Department of Conservation and Natural Resources transferred to this new division.

• Transfers all property, employees, funds, records, equipment, and contractual obligations from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to the new division within the Department of Agriculture and Industries.

• Director of the new division shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries and shall serve at the commissioner's pleasure, with overall supervision subject to the commissioner's approval.

• Employees transferred to the division maintain their existing classification, benefits, and seniority; no employee shall receive a decrease in salary, benefits, or classification as a result of the transfer.

• Requires the Code Commissioner to make conforming changes throughout the Code of Alabama 1975 to reflect the organizational restructuring and amends Sections 2-2-8, 9-2-14, and 9-2-15 regarding the commissioner's duties and the Advisory Board of Conservation and Natural Resources.
