AL SB53

Proposes a constitutional amendment limiting Alabama legislators to three consecutive full terms in either the Senate or House of Representatives.

Counts any election to either chamber lasting at least two years as equivalent to one full term for purposes of calculating term limits.

Exempts all legislative service prior to November 2017 from counting toward the three-term limit, allowing current legislators to reset their term count.

Amendment requires approval by a majority of qualified electors voting on the measure and must be conducted according to Alabama Constitution Sections 284, 285, and 287.
