Amends Alabama Code Section 13A-11-61.2 to add an exemption for qualified retired law enforcement officers from firearm possession prohibitions in designated locations such as law enforcement stations, jails, mental health facilities, courthouses, and athletic facilities.

Qualified retired law enforcement officers are defined according to the federal Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act of 2004, 18 U.S.C § 926B, requiring honorable retirement with 15 or more years of service and meeting active law enforcement firearms qualification standards.

Maintains existing prohibitions on firearm possession for all other persons, including those with valid pistol permits, in specified locations without express permission from premises authorities.

Violation of firearm possession prohibitions remains a Class C misdemeanor.

Effective date is the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
