AL SB97

Extends employment and reemployment protections to members of the national guard of other states who are employed in Alabama, in addition to Alabama National Guard members.

Removes the requirement that active duty must last 30 consecutive days; protections now apply when members are called to state active duty or federally funded duty for purposes other than training.

Applies the federal Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act to eligible guard members called to active duty.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
