• Senate Joint Resolution commending Alton R. Barnes, Sr., for outstanding service to the State of Alabama.

• Recognized Barnes' military service as a member of the 158th Regiment Combat Team in the Pacific Theater during World War II and subsequent service in Japan during the Korean War.

• Honored Barnes' leadership of the Alabama Military Academy (officer candidate school) for more than 20 years, which helped Alabama be recognized as the best State National Guard organization in America during that period.
