Recognizes Dr. Dee O. Fowler for his distinguished professional achievement and dedicated service to education in Alabama.

Dr. Fowler served as Superintendent of Madison County Schools, overseeing more than 9,800 students and approximately 1,000 certified and support staff.

He became Superintendent in 2007 after serving as assistant superintendent for two years and Director of Administration, Operations, and Personnel for six years.

Dr. Fowler holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Lipscomb University, a Master's Degree in Education Administration from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University, AA Certification from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, and an Educational Doctorate from the University of Alabama.

In 2008, Dr. Fowler was selected as a finalist for State Superintendent of the Year by the School Superintendents of Alabama Association and was named Superintendent of the Year by the Alabama Parent Teacher Association.
