• Commends NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center for 57 years of contributions in rocket propulsion technology, lunar missions, and development of advanced space systems enabling astronauts to work in space stations and conduct deep-space expeditions to Mars.

• Recognizes the center's responsibility for approximately 22,000 jobs in Alabama and contribution of more than $96 million annually in state and local tax revenues while serving as a major economic development asset and technology magnet for the region.

• Acknowledges the center's leadership in developing NASA's Space Launch System (SLS), an entirely new capability for taking humans and science missions beyond lower Earth's orbit toward Mars, supporting tens of thousands of jobs across manufacturing and other industries.

• Recognizes the center's continued work on Hubble Space Telescope, Chandra X-ray Observatory, and International Space Station missions, as well as its support of the National STEM initiative to educate future scientists and engineers.

• Directs that a copy of the resolution be forwarded to Center Director Todd May in recognition of the center's distinguished scientists, engineers, technicians, management, and support personnel.
