Commends Alton R. Barnes, Sr., for outstanding service to the State of Alabama.

Recognizes his military service in World War II with the 158th Regiment Combat Team in the Pacific Theater and subsequent service in Japan during the Korean War.

Honors his leadership of the Alabama Military Academy (officer candidate school) for more than 20 years, which enhanced the quality of leadership in the Alabama National Guard and helped Alabama earn recognition as the best State National Guard organization in America.

Acknowledges his post-military career as Assistant Administrator of the ABC Board and his extensive volunteer work benefitting seniors, including 20 years with Baptist Hospital's Senior Advantage Program and 16 years visiting nursing homes and rest facilities.

Recognizes his ongoing Christian faith and community service at 93 years of age, including singing in his church choir and teaching Sunday School.
