Recognizes and honors Jean-yih (Peter) Chiou, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta, for his contributions to strengthening Alabama-Taiwan relations.

Chiou coordinated a $50,000 donation from Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Alabama's Governor's Emergency Relief Fund and organized Tzu Chi Foundation assistance following the 2011 Tuscaloosa tornado.

In 2013, Chiou coordinated a reception celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the sister-state relationship between Alabama and Taiwan and facilitated a visit by Taiwan's Minister Jung-Tzer Lin.

In October 2015, Chiou played a pivotal role in establishing a Memorandum of Understanding between Taiwan's Ministry of Transportation and Communications and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency allowing reciprocal recognition of driver's licenses.

The resolution expresses appreciation for Chiou's efforts in promoting cultural and academic exchanges between Alabama and Taiwan.
