Tom Walker, founder and CEO of the American Village history and civics education center, is commended for his appointment as one of 16 citizen members to the United States Semiquincentennial Commission.

Walker founded the American Village Citizenship Trust in 1995 to educate young people about American liberty and constitutional self-government.

As a Semiquincentennial Commission member, Walker will assist in planning the country's 250th birthday commemoration scheduled for July 4, 2026.

Walker has received multiple accolades including the Cornerstone of Liberty Legacy Award, the American Bar Association's Excellence in Law-Related Education award, and selection as Citizen of the Year by the Birmingham Women's Committee of 100.

Walker holds degrees in history and political science from the University of Montevallo and Mississippi State University, and has served as city manager of Northport, Alabama.
