HB 18 Summary

• Deletes the existing exemption allowing persons licensed in another state to perform prosthetic, orthotic, or pedorthic services in Alabama for 60 days per 12-month period after board notification.

• Adds a new exemption permitting certified or licensed clinicians from other states to provide services at meetings of the Alabama Prosthetic & Orthotic Association (APOA) or similar organizations and at board-approved training events.

• Maintains all existing licensing requirements and qualifications for prosthetists, orthotists, pedorthists, and orthotic suppliers in Alabama.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
