HB230 Summary

• Amends Section 41-4-412 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to modify term limits for Craft Training Board members from one three-year term to eligibility for reappointment for a maximum of two consecutive terms.

• Establishes staggered terms for board members appointed on or after October 16, 2018: two members serve one year (expiring October 15, 2019), two members serve two years (expiring October 15, 2020), and three members serve three years (expiring October 15, 2021).

• All board members appointed after the initial staggered appointments shall serve three-year terms, allowing for continuity while preventing excessive concentration of power.

• The Craft Training Board governs the Alabama Construction Industry Craft Training Program within the Division of Construction Management and consists of seven voting members appointed by the Governor from nominees submitted by construction industry organizations.

• Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
