HB 281 Summary

• Amends Section 45-2-234.40 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to allow retiring law enforcement officers from the Baldwin County Sheriff's office to receive a firearm without cost from the department.

• Applies to officers with 10 or more years of service who retire in good standing and includes the sheriff.

• Retiring officers may receive a retired badge, retired commission card, and a pistol firearm, provided the firearm is furnished by the department.

• Makes the provisions retroactive to January 15, 1991.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
