HB 364 Summary

• Amends Section 34-23-70 of the Code of Alabama to expand the exemption from pharmacy pick-up station restrictions to any entity meeting the federal definition of a federally qualified health center under 42 U.S.C. §1396d(l)(2)(B).

• Allows federally qualified health centers to compound and dispense non-controlled prescription medications at one location and courier them to clinic locations for patient pick-up.

• Removes the previous limitation that named only specific health centers (Birmingham Health Care, Inc., Central Alabama Comprehensive Health, Inc., and others) as eligible providers.

• Excludes controlled substances from the exemption, maintaining existing restrictions on their distribution.

• Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
