General Gustave F. Perna became the 19th Commander of the United States Army Materiel Command on September 30, 2016.

General Perna earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland and a Master's Degree in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology, and graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1981.

General Perna has served with distinction in Iraq, Bosnia, and Somalia, and received numerous military awards including the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, and multiple Meritorious Service Medals and Army Commendation Medals.

The Alabama Legislature honors General Perna for his achievements and service, and conveys its esteem and gratitude along with best wishes for his future endeavors.

Resolution was adopted by the House on February 13, 2018 and by the Senate on February 15, 2018.
