Mourns the death of Reginald Eurias Cathey (professionally known as Reg. E Cathey), a Huntsville native actor who died on February 9, 2018, at age 59.

Cathey was born August 18, 1958, in Huntsville, Alabama, to an Army officer father and Defense Department employee mother, grew up in Germany, and studied at the University of Michigan and Yale School of Drama.

Had over 35 years of acting career including recurring role in television series "Oz," appearances in "Law and Order," "30 Rock," and "Star Trek: The Next Generation," and film roles in "Fantastic Four" (2015), "American Psycho," and "House of Cards."

Won an Emmy Award in 2015 and received three consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role in "House of Cards"; made Broadway debut in "The Green Bird."

Survivors include girlfriend Linda Powell, sister Donza Cathey Friende, stepmother Maureen Davis Cathey, and stepbrothers Jerry Davis and Maurice Davis; resolution adopted by House on February 22, 2018, and Senate on March 1, 2018.
