HJR 32 - Mourning the Death of Rick Hall

• Rick Hall of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, died on January 2, 2018, at the age of 85 years.

• Hall was the cofounder of Florence Alabama Music Enterprises (FAME Records) in Florence and took sole ownership of the publishing company in 1960, moving it to Muscle Shoals.

• Hall produced music for prominent artists including Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Clarence Carter, Etta James, the Osmonds, Paul Anka, and Bobbie Gentry.

• Hall was influenced by his high school agriculture teacher, Grover Morrow, father of Representative Johnny Mack Morrow, who gave him his first musical instrument, a mandolin.

• The resolution records his death with deep sadness and offers tribute to his life and sympathy to his surviving family members including his wife Linda Hall, three sons, five grandchildren, and siblings.
