Coach Tommy Lewis is one of only 25 coaches in Alabama High School Boys Basketball history to attain 600 wins, reaching this milestone on February 9, 2018, with an overall record of 602-342.

Lewis served as Head Coach for 31 years at four high schools: Gaylesville, Spring Garden, Cherokee County, and Piedmont High School.

His teams won at least 20 games 20 times, claimed 22 area championships, and 15 teams participated in regional tournaments with 5 advancing to the state tournament.

At Piedmont High School over 12 seasons, Lewis accumulated 226 wins (the most in the school's 100-year history), led 9 area championship teams, and had three teams reach the Final 4, with the 2015 team finishing as Class 3A State Runner-up.

The Alabama Legislature honors and commends Coach Tommy Lewis for his dedication, exceptional abilities, and positive impact on countless student-athletes.
