Resolution commends Girl Scouts of Alabama for 102 years of changing the world, with the Gold Award established since 1946 as the highest honor in Girl Scouting.

Gold Award requires girls in grades 9-12 to make a measurable and sustainable difference in their community through assessing needs, designing solutions, and inspiring others to sustain projects.

Girl Scout Leadership Experience provides core programs in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), environmental stewardship, healthy living, financial literacy, and global citizenship to over 20,000 girls in grades K-12 across Alabama.

According to 2015 Girl Scout Research Institute study, Gold Award recipients exhibit greater sense of self, life satisfaction, leadership opportunities, participation, and community service and civic engagement compared to non-participants.

Adopted by the House on March 20, 2018 and the Senate on March 21, 2018.
