Honors and commends 30 fourth and fifth grade students from Huntsville City School System who represented Alabama as the official education delegation at the 1988 XV Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada.

Students were selected based on compelling essays and attended opening ceremonies, Olympic museums, the Olympic Center, and award ceremonies during the games.

Upon returning home, students presented their trip experience to sponsors and shared reports with peers; 79 companies and individuals contributed $45,000 toward trip expenses.

Flags carried during the parade of nations were manufactured in Huntsville, Alabama by CF Flag Co.

Recognition acknowledges the students' exceptional representation of Alabama on the 30th anniversary of their 1988 Olympic trip and during the occasion of current Winter Olympic Games.
