John Richard Sherman of Gadsden, Alabama, died on January 21, 2018, at the age of 66 years.

Sherman was born April 13, 1951, graduated from Gadsden High School in 1969, and performed with The Electric Boro Band and the Axes throughout the Southeast, recording with The Atlanta Rhythm Section, Mother's Finest, and Eric Quincy Tate in the early 1970s.

He worked as a second-generation plumber and custom tile setter, and was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves, and University of Alabama football.

Sherman was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Sarah Ann Sherman Moss, Cecile Joan Sherman Patterson, and William Lawson "Bill" Sherman.

Survivors include his sister Patricia Sherman, five nieces, two nephews, two sisters-in-law, and companion of 19 years Susan Hood.
