Acknowledges her 40-year career at Alabama A and M University, including service as first female interim President, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Distinguished University Professor.

Recognizes her numerous honors including the Rosa Parks Women of Courage Award, Mentor of the Year Award from 100 Black Men of America, and the establishment of the Virginia Caples Lifelong Learning Institute on campus.

Lists her memberships in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, The Links Incorporated, and Church Street Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher and chair of the Diaconate.

Extends sympathy to her surviving family members, including her husband of 34 years, Hundley Batts, Sr., and extended family.
