Recognizes Officer Kris Roney of the Scottsboro Police Department as a nominee for the 2018 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

On August 10, 2017, Officer Roney rescued Jennifer Nicole Brownfield, 39, from a burning vehicle at the intersection of Highway 72 and Snodgrass Road after witnessing it crash into an embankment and partially overturn.

Officer Roney climbed into the overturned vehicle's broken sunroof, located the driver, ensured no one else was inside, and pulled Ms. Brownfield from the flame-engulfed vehicle to a safe distance.

Officer Roney received the Scottsboro Police Department Life Saving Certificate for his meritorious actions in placing himself in a life-threatening situation to save another person's life.

The House of Representatives directs that Officer Roney receive a copy of this resolution as evidence of their admiration and esteem.
