Coach Tommy Lewis is honored and commended by the Alabama House of Representatives for outstanding professional achievement in high school basketball coaching.

Coach Lewis is one of only 25 coaches in Alabama high school boys basketball history to attain 600 wins, achieving victory number 600 on February 9, 2018, with an overall coaching record of 602-342.

Over 31 years as a head coach, Lewis coached basketball teams at Gaylesville, Spring Garden, Cherokee County, and Piedmont High Schools, leading all teams to area championships with 22 area championship teams and 5 teams advancing to the state tournament.

At Piedmont High School over 12 seasons, Lewis accumulated 226 wins (more than any other coach in the school's 100-year history) and led teams to 9 area championships and 3 Final 4 appearances, including the 2015 Class 3A State Runner-up team.
