Commends Mark Russell on his selection as the 2018 Section 3 recipient of the National High School Spirit of Sports Award by the National Federation of State High School Associations.

Russell is Huntsville City Council president and high school football referee who will be recognized on July 20, 2018, at the AHSAA Summer Conference Championship Coaches awards banquet in Montgomery, Alabama.

Russell has served as an AHSAA and youth league football official for more than 30 years, including roles as head of the Northeast Football Officials Association's nominating committee, leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes group, and chair of the benevolent committee projects.

Russell officiated several AHSAA championship football games, most recently as linesman at the 2017 Class 7A title game.

The House of Representatives honors Russell for his outstanding contributions to athletics and presents him with a copy of this resolution with tribute and esteem.
