Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Leeds, Alabama is celebrating its 175th anniversary of founding on September 9, 1843, with Reverend J. A. Moor as the first pastor.

The church was originally constructed from cedar logs with handhewn timbers joined by wooden pegs, later covered with white clapboard siding and then brick.

During the Civil War, the church served as a field hospital and headquarters where Company C of the Alabama Volunteers was organized; it later served as a community school.

The Alabama House of Representatives commends Cedar Grove Baptist Church for its 175 years of growth and importance to the community.
