Glynn Debter began his cattle business in 1948 with two registered Hereford heifers for his 4-H project and built the Debter Hereford Farm in Blount County, Alabama into one of the most respected cattle operations in the industry.

Debter bulls and heifers have been sold to cattle operations in 40 states, and the annual October bull sale is one of the oldest in the Southeast.

Glynn Debter served as President, Director, or Chair of the Alabama Cattleman's Association, American Hereford Association, Beef Cattle Improvement Association, and Beef Improvement Federation.

Debter was inducted into the Alabama Livestock Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Alabama Agriculture Hall of Honor at Auburn University College of Agriculture; he regularly opens his farm for educational outreach to college teams, tour groups, and 4-H clubs.

The House of Representatives honors and commends Glynn Debter and the Debter Hereford Farm for their outstanding contributions to the cattle industry and service to Alabama, with five generations of the Debter family working together.
