Recognizes Lieutenant Colonel James Michael Sprayberry on receiving the Medal of Honor in 1969, awarded by President Richard Nixon.

Sprayberry, from Sylacauga, Alabama, joined the Army in Montgomery in 1967 and served as a first lieutenant in Company D, 5th Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) in Vietnam.

In 1968, Sprayberry led a nighttime patrol to rescue wounded soldiers, personally destroyed several enemy bunkers and machine gun emplacements, eliminated 12 enemy soldiers, and directed isolated men to safety.

Continued serving until his retirement in 1988 and is recognized as an epitome of a hero whose sacrifices preserved freedom.

The Alabama House of Representatives honors and commends Lieutenant Colonel Sprayberry for his valorous service and extends sincere best wishes for his future endeavors.
