SB10 Summary

• Requires residential home builders licensed by the Home Builders Licensure Board to disclose in writing to the homeowner whether the builder has obtained and maintains liability insurance before commencing construction.

• The written disclosure must be signed by both the licensee and homeowner, and attested by one witness selected by the homeowner.

• Failure to comply with the disclosure requirement constitutes a violation of Chapter 14A of Title 34, Code of Alabama 1975 and is subject to board enforcement action under Section 34-14A-8.

• The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
