SB185 Summary

• Provides a 3 percent salary increase for all state employees, hourly employees, judicial personnel, and legislative personnel effective with the first pay day on or after October 1, 2018.

• Applies to employees in classified and unclassified service, all other state employees, and county health department employees whose compensation is paid from state budgets under the State Board of Health.

• Excludes Merit System employees or hourly employees whose pay is governed by labor agreements or contracts, and excludes local supplements for judges or local employees whose salaries are tied to state employees.

• Requires the Director of State Personnel Department, Administrative Director of Courts, and legislative leadership to revise pay schedules and certify changes to the state Comptroller for warrant issuance.

• Requires appropriations for the increase to be included in annual budget acts for affected entities rather than making direct appropriations in the bill itself.
