The Alabama Forestry Commission is authorized to adopt, alter, amend, or repeal rules governing the preservation, protection, and use of state forests and any other lands owned, leased, or controlled by the commission.

Violations of commission-adopted rules constitute a Class C misdemeanor with fines ranging from $50 to $500 per offense, plus potential costs of proceedings.

Collected fines are paid to the Office of the State Forester, delivered to the State Treasurer, and placed in the Alabama Forestry Commission Fund.

The State Forester and designated commission employees are authorized to defer charges and issue citations for rule violations or violations of other forestry provisions.

The bill becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
