SB231 Summary

• Increases automatic annual appropriation to the Emergency Forest Fire, Insect and Disease Fund from $180,000 to $250,000 per fiscal year.

• Raises the maximum accumulated balance cap for the fund from $1,000,000 to $2,000,000.

• Maintains the State Comptroller's responsibility to transfer funds from the General Fund at the beginning of each state fiscal year.

• Permits fund expenditures for salaries, capital expenditures, and other costs related to emergency forest fire, insect, and disease suppression and control, subject to Governor approval.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval.
