SB3 Summary

• Repeals eight sections of Alabama Code relating to firearm restrictions, including prohibitions on carrying concealed weapons, carrying pistols on private property, and possessing firearms at demonstrations.

• Amends Section 13A-11-61.2 to maintain firearm prohibitions only at specific locations: police/sheriff/highway patrol stations, prisons/jails/detention facilities, psychiatric facilities, courthouses, and athletic events at schools and professional venues.

• Allows lawfully possessed firearms in employee vehicles parked at workplaces if kept from ordinary observation and locked, provided the employee complies with storage requirements.

• Requires persons or entities with authority over restricted premises to post notices at public entrances alerting those entering that firearms are prohibited; violations constitute Class C misdemeanors.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
