AL SB327

Allows any sheriff in Alabama to issue or renew a pistol permit to a person residing in any county in the state, not just their own county.

Permits either the issuing sheriff or the sheriff of the county where the permittee resides to revoke a permit for reasons that would justify denial.

Requires a duplicate copy of any pistol permit issued to be delivered to the sheriff of the county where the permittee resides within seven days.

Maintains existing permit validity throughout the state for one to five year periods and requires background checks and immigration status verification for applicants.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
