SB340 Summary

• Amends Section 38-9-2 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to revise the definition of "protected person" under the Adult Protective Services Act of 1976.

• Changes language in the "protected person" definition from "persons who are senile with Alzheimer's disease or dementia" to "persons with Alzheimer's disease or dementia," removing the outdated term "senile."

• Eliminates the standalone definition of "senility" (formerly definition 20) as organic brain damage caused by advanced age or physical illness.

• Renumbers subsequent definitions to maintain sequential order after removal of the "senility" definition.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
