AL SB366

Amends Section 12-16-216 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to create an exception to grand jury secrecy rules for officer-involved shootings resulting in death.

Allows disclosure of grand jury evidence and testimony to the public when the grand jury does not return an indictment or when the criminal trial concludes.

Defines "officer-involved shooting" as the discharge of a firearm, whether intentional or accidental, by a law enforcement officer (on or off duty) at another person, or by a person at a law enforcement officer (on or off duty).

Maintains existing prohibitions against corrupting grand jurors and obtaining grand jury information through threats, force, or offers of reward.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
