• Recognizes and congratulates the Republic of Korea for hosting the 2018 XXIII Winter Olympic Games (February 9-25, 2018) and XII Winter Paralympic Games (March 9-18, 2018) in PyeongChang.

• Notes that PyeongChang was the first Winter Olympic host in Korea in 30 years since the 1988 Seoul Olympics, with 102 events across 15 sport disciplines and the first Winter Olympics featuring more than 100 gold medals.

• Highlights Alabama connections including approximately 240 U.S. Olympic athletes, two Alabama coaches (Christa Springs of Wetumpka and John Zimmerman IV of Homewood), and over 26,000 Alabama Koreans with more than 90 Korean companies providing 36,000+ state employments.

• Expresses the expectation that the Olympic events will contribute to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

• Authorizes the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to Alabama Korean Education and Economic Partnership, the Federation of Korean Associations in the Southeastern United States, and the Korea National Unification Council, Atlanta Chapter.
