SJR145 - Commendation for Major Charles A. Reidy

• Commends Major Charles A. Reidy for extraordinary service to the Civil Air Patrol

• Major Reidy served with Civil Air Patrol Squadron 401 in Pennsylvania starting in May 1955, obtaining a Ranger Ground Team rating in 1958 and participating in 14 Search and Rescue missions over six years

• Served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1985 as an aircraft mechanic and flight engineer, including assignments with the B-58 Hustler and KC-135 aircraft, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 22.5 years of active duty

• Continued service as Air Force Junior ROTC Instructor for 20 years until 2004 retirement, then joined Gadsden Composite Squadron (AL-075) in 2011 where he served as Squadron Commander and established the Alabama Wing Color Guard Academy

• Currently serves as mission aircrew member for Pell City Squadron (AL-118) and has earned USAF Meritorious Service Award, Air Force Commendation and Achievement Medals, CAP Commander's Commendation, and two AFJROTC Instructor of the Year Awards
