Recognizes the establishment of a state firefighter cancer registry database by the Alabama Fire College for all paid and volunteer firefighters in Alabama to log exposure information.

National studies indicate firefighters are twice as likely to develop specific types of cancer due to exposure to carcinogens released from burning building materials and their contents.

Database provides private individual accounts accessible only to the firefighter or system administrator to protect privacy.

Exposure information collected from database entries (excluding unnecessary personal information) will be forwarded annually to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for use in studies to limit firefighter carcinogen exposure.

Senate adopted resolution on January 25, 2018; House adopted on February 1, 2018.
