• Recognizes Montgomery as the capital of the State of Alabama.
• Montgomery was formed in 1819 and chosen as Alabama's third and final capital location in 1846.
• The first capitol building was constructed in Greek Revival style in 1847 and burned on December 14, 1849; the current capitol was completed two years later.
• The Alabama State Capitol has served as the seat of government since 1851 for more than 40 governors and is designated as a Historic Landmark Building managed by the Alabama Historical Commission.
