SJR4 Summary

• Authorizes the Alabama Department of Transportation to erect signs on Alabama Highway 281 indicating the Pinhoti Trail location and directions in Cleburne County.

• Signs shall be placed on each side of the bridge crossing Interstate 20 and the bridge over U.S. Highway 78 near Heflin.

• The Pinhoti Trail is a 335-mile footpath across Alabama and Georgia connecting to the Appalachian Trail, with 171 miles running through Alabama including Cleburne County.

• The trail was designated a National Recreation Trail in 1977 and travels through Talladega National Forest, Cheaha State Park, Weogufka State Park, and two wilderness areas.

• Requires copies of the resolution to be provided to the Alabama Department of Transportation and the Cleburne County Commission.
