Recognizes the Alabama Beverage Association for its 100th anniversary of serving Alabama's nonalcoholic beverage industry since 1918.

The organization was formerly known as the Alabama Soft Drink Association until its name was changed in 2005 to reflect the expanded range of beverages including juices, ready-to-drink teas, sports drinks, and bottled water.

Alabama's beverage companies provide more than 4,500 jobs and contribute significant tax dollars to state and federal government plus charitable donations across the state.

Beverage companies have reduced the calorie content of beverages sent to schools by 90 percent as part of efforts to address childhood obesity and improve community health.

The resolution was adopted by the Senate on February 1, 2018, and by the House on February 8, 2018.
