• Authorizes the House of Representatives and Senate to employ House and Senate police officers supervised by the Clerk of the House and Secretary of the Senate respectively.

• Extends House and Senate police officers' jurisdiction to cover the entire Alabama State House, surrounding grounds, parking lots, curtilages, and certain legislative areas of the State Capitol (instead of only specific floors).

• Grants certified House and Senate police officers full peace officer and law enforcement powers statewide when performing duties at legislative meetings, committee sessions, and legislature-sponsored events.

• Prohibits firearms and deadly weapons in the Alabama State House except for authorized law enforcement officers and other persons specifically authorized by House or Senate police officers.

• Creates contempt of legislature penalties and makes disorderly conduct in the State House or disruption of legislative proceedings a Class C misdemeanor, allowing House and Senate police officers to arrest violators with or without a warrant.
