HB190 Summary

• Department of Conservation and Natural Resources may issue Uniform Traffic Tickets and Complaints for parking violations on state parks, boating access areas, wildlife management areas, public fish lakes, and other department-controlled property.

• Special officers appointed by the department enforce parking violations and are not required to be certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission.

• Parking violations in regular spaces incur a $50 fine; violations in handicapped parking spaces incur a $250 fine, with no court costs assessed.

• Fifty percent of collected fines go to the Department of Conservation Administrative Fund and fifty percent to the Clerks Judicial Administration Fund.

• District courts have exclusive jurisdiction over violations; the court may suspend a violator's driver's license for failure to pay fines.
