Alabama Medicaid Agency shall allocate Medicaid Program funds for a minimum of 200 participants in the federal Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE Program) in any Class 2 municipality beginning with the fiscal year commencing October 1, 2019, and each fiscal year thereafter.

PACE Program is defined as the federal Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly operated by a public, private, nonprofit, or proprietary entity as permitted under 42 C.F.R. §460.6.

Legislature finds that PACE programs in the state exist only in Class 2 municipalities and provide treatment to nursing home eligible patients at lower taxpayer cost per patient than other existing programs.

Legislature determines the state has a financial and moral responsibility to provide choices for nursing home eligible individuals and promote appropriate medical treatment for this population.

Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
