Amends Section 36-9-7 and repeals Section 36-9-8 of the Code of Alabama 1975 regarding vacancies in the U.S. Senate office.

Requires the Governor to appoint a person to fill any U.S. Senate vacancy to serve until a successor is elected at the next general election for which qualifying has not opened.

Directs the Governor to issue a writ of election to fill the office for the remainder of the term at the next general election.

Provides that if a vacancy occurs within 76 days before the general election preceding the end of the term, votes shall be canvassed and counted; if the incumbent who vacated the office receives the most votes, a vacancy shall still exist and the Governor shall appoint a replacement.

Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
