Amends Section 36-25-15 of the Alabama Code to extend the deadline for candidates to file a statement of economic interests with the State Ethics Commission from simultaneously with qualifying papers to not more than five days after qualifying.

Requires election officials to notify the State Ethics Commission within five days of receiving a declaration of candidacy or petition, and requires the commission to notify the election official within five business days whether the candidate has complied with filing requirements.

Provides that candidates who fail to submit a statement of economic interests by the deadline will not appear on the ballot and will be deemed unqualified, unless the commission grants good cause for an additional five-day extension.

Exempts candidates from filing a second statement if a current statement of economic interests is already on file with the commission.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
