Amends Section 16-22-1 of the Alabama Code to add Madison Academy and Briarwood Presbyterian Church and its integrated auxiliary Briarwood Christian School to the list of institutions authorized to appoint and employ police officers.

Grants appointed police officers full law enforcement powers including arrest authority for unlawful acts committed on the property of the school or academy.

Requires all appointed police officers to carry and be trained in the proper use of nonlethal weapons while on duty, defined as weapons designed to immediately incapacitate targets while minimizing fatalities and permanent injury.

Mandates certification of appointed police officers through the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
